Maria Sharapova-Sliding Through in Warsaw
After battling injury for nearly all of last season, Maria Sharapova is slowly making a comeback in women’s tennis. Today she reached the third round of the WTA’s Warsaw Open, beating her opponent 6-2, 6-0.
Currently ranked 126th in the world, she is sure to move up the ranks quickly provided she remain uninjured, and is able to reach the quarters or semis in this tournament and of course the next major- The French Open. Warsaw should be an excellent warm-up since it is played on clay and although hard courts are her forte she has won on clay and made the semis in Paris in 2007.
Today the former world number one described her game as “solid.” Hopefully she can continue to play that way and regain her rank.
