Online poker site FullTiltPoker.com has released the schedule of its highly popular Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS), which will feature a total of 25 events featuring guaranteed prize pools ranging from $150.000 to $2.5 million.

The FTOPS XII will run from May 8th to 17th, the online tournament series will kick off with the $216 NL Hold’em Event #1 scheduled on Wednesday, May 6th at 9 p.m. EST. The tournament will feature a $1 million guaranteed prize pool with satellites into the event already taking place at Full Tilt.

Even when most of the 25 events are strictly Hold’em, the schedule includes several variations including multi-table tournaments, six-handed play, shootouts, rebuys, knockout formats, turbos, and even a tournament with a blinds structure that includes antes from the opening hand.

FTOPS XII will also feature tournaments in Omaha, Omaha eight-or-better, razz, stud eight-or-better, and HA (half Hold’em/half Omaha). In addition, players can enter a series of small stake events running along the FTOPS XII named the MiniFTOPS. MiniFTOPS XII will feature all of the same events as FTOPS XII, but with 10% of the original buy-in.

European Commission determines that U.S. online gambling laws infringe WTO agreements

“The European Commission investigation further highlights the need for the Obama Administration and Congress to regulate Internet gambling not only to protect consumers, but in order to restore integrity to the international trade system. The Obama Administration should seek to forge a new direction on Internet gambling, rather than keeping in place a protectionist trade policy that hypocritically discriminates against foreign online gambling operators.” said Jeffrey Sandman, spokesperson for the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative.

E.U. Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton issued an official note asking the U.S. to change or eliminate some of its policies regarding Internet gambling as a way to solve this issue. As it has been reported by numerous sites and organizations supporting the legalization of online poker and other gaming activities, a project introduced by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) requesting the legalization of certain forms of gambling would finally put and end on the trade dispute.

“It is for the US to decide how best to regulate Internet gambling in its market, but this must be done in a way that fully respects WTO obligations. I am hopeful that we can find a swift, negotiated solution to this issue.” said Commissioner Ashton.

The analysis made by the European Commission is the result of a Trade Barrier Regulation complaint filed by the Remote Gambling Association (RGA), which represents some of the largest and most important online gambling firms in Europe. In its complaint the RGA stated that the U.S was breaking several trade agreements and intimidating foreign Internet gambling operators with criminal prosecutions, forfeitures and other actions, while allowing domestic U.S. online gambling operators, primarily horse betting, to offer their services.

Now the European Commission could pursue discussions with the U.S. to find a permanent solution for what they said is discriminative action. However, European Commission said that they could elevate the case to the WTO if at some point the U.S officials refuse to cooperate.

WBC files lawsuit over use of belt at Pacquiao-Hatton fight

In a recent interview given to a boxing site, Sulaiman said that neither he nor the WBC will extend a permission to Pacquiao to wear the WBC belt in the ring as he has done in the past. The problem between Pacquiao and the WBC started when the Filipino refused to comply with the financial agreements established by the Boxing Council. According to Sulaiman, Pacquiao’s lawyer Franklin “Jeng” Gacal, together with the boxing Champ have previously agreed to pay $80,000 in sanction fees for his fights against Juan Manuel Marquez and Oscar de la Hoya, and so far, both the boxer and his lawyer have ignored his requests.

Sulaiman said that the WBC always tried to solve the matter before taking legal actions against the fighter, but that due the circumstances and that since Gacal hasn’t even had the consideration of answering his letters, the WBC has no choice but proceeding with a lawsuit.

“I personally believe that Manny Pacquiao himself doesn’t know because if he knew that it hasn’t been paid, he would pay. Don Jose added, “ I think there are people with him who are covering these things and ruining the respect and the image of the champion.” said Sulaiman.

On the other hand, Pacquiao’s lawyer claimed that neither he or any member of his team have received any letters, e-mails or calls and refused to make any comments until he analyzes the documents sent by Sulaiman. But regardless of the outcome or consequences this matter would have over Pacquiao’s career, the event’s organization said Pacquiao vs. Hatton fight will take place as planned on May 2nd at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
